Challah

1 package dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
1/3 cup sugar
1 1/3 cups warm water
4 cups flour
1/3 cup oil
2 tsp salt
1 egg

Place yeast, sugar, and water into bowl.
Mix lightly, set aside for 5 minutes.
Add flour, oil, salt, and egg.
Mix well. Knead for 10 minutes, adding a bit of flour if necessary.
Cover bowl tightly with plastic wrap. Let rise for 30 minutes.
Take challah, make a blessing (only if you are making at least a double recipe).
Shape loaves, place in greased baking pan or on greased baking sheet.
Brush with beaten egg.
Let rise for one hour.
Bake at 350 for 20 to 30 minutes, until well browned.
